Mad Men Obsession

This is not an entry about Sunday’s Mad Men episode on AMC.  I’m sure it was AWESOME, but I just started watching Mad Men Season Two on DVD.

I never watched Mad Men before and they had another big win at this year’s Emmy Awards.  (Mad Men has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series three years in a row.)

So hubbie and I finally decided, okay, we’ll give this Mad Men show the “one episode try.”

I ordered Mad Men: Season One: Disc One from Netflix and that was it.  We were HOOKED.

It’s SOOO good.

I don’t know how else to say it.  Well, I can say that if you look up “handsome” in the dictionary you will see a picture of this man:

Jon Hamm (as Don Draper) is very easy on the eyes so that is reason number one to be addicted to Mad Men.  (Now there are rumors he will play Superman on the big screen.  AWESOME.)

Watching Mad Men is like being in history class.  I am learning all about the 1960s.  It’s such a blast to see the costumes, the scenery, the historic references, the retro ad campaigns and, OMG!, the drinking and the smoking.   It’s so over the top that the cigarette and the cocktail glass are their own characters at this point.

A big surprise has been the dark side of each of these men and women.  Each episode is a brand new discovery into their secret lives.  It’s so addicting.  We can’t wait to get to the next DVD.

Hubbie and I love this show and we are desperately trying to catch up on DVD while avoiding all the new season spoilers on the Internet.

We are so into this show that we reference it all the time.  Hubbie is now obsessed with martinis and wants a bar cart for his office.  I’m on the search for the perfect pencil skirt.

And we call this Annabel’s Mad Men dress.  (It makes sense.  She is looking very lovely while cooking dinner for the family.)

Season 4 of Mad Men airs Sunday nights at 10 PM EST on AMC.  (The Mad Men Season 1 – 3 DVDs are available now so you can catch up too. I highly recommend you do.)
