Ballerina Girl

Annabel is turning into quite the little princess.  And, oh, how I love it so.

Motherhood

I’m a stay-at-home-mom.  Or SAHM.  However you say it, it’s a hard job.  A really hard job.  A hard, overwhelming, stressful job.  It’s also an exciting, rewarding, thrilling job. It certainly is the best job I’ve ever had.  This trailer for the new movie “Motherhood” looks pretty funny and relatable. It’s nice to see Uma Thurman in a movie where she doesn’t look perfect.  Hope it’s good!

Happy 35th Birthday Baby!

My hubbie is 35 years old young today!

He is truly the best husband a woman could ever ask for.  He is an amazing Daddy. He is also the person I want sitting next to me on that porch swing 35 years from now.  He is my best friend, my soul mate, and my partner in crime.  Happy Birthday Baby!  You rock!

(And thank you for telling me the birthday cake I made was DELICIOUS, even though your face says otherwise. )

And, YES, that is a brand new Lacoste polo shirt I bought him for his birthday.  Special shout out to Jeff Lewis from Bravo TV’s Flipping Out. Every time we watch the show together, hubbie says, “I want to look like Jeff Lewis! I want that shirt!” So, there you go.  I think I just outed my husband for wanting to look like Jeff Lewis.

Pumpkin Patch ’09

We were so excited to head out to our local pumpkin patch again this year.  We have been going to the same location for three years now.  It’s so crazy to think that the first time we were there, we only had Bean and he was only this big:

Then, we had Annabel and took her for the first time last year:

Of course, two days ago, Bean had a fight with his new train table and the train table won.  So I knew all the Pumpkin Patch 2009 photos would feature this lovely, front-and-center, eye and nose cut:

Oh well, off we went!  It was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining.  Mr. (not scary at all) Scarecrow met us at the entrance:

We grabbed the pumpkin wagon and went on our search for the perfect pumpkins:

Annabel loved playing peek-a-boo in the pumpkins.  (She will play peek-a-boo anywhere and at anytime. )

Here’s Bean on the same blue tractor he rode the first time we came to the patch:

There are also TONS of gourds and small pumpkins for sale.  I always buy a bunch to use for my dining table centerpiece.  I so LOVE these little guys. (Bean included!)

It was a great day, er 27 minutes, at the Pumpkin Patch.  See you again next year!

Somer Thompson

Everyone here is talking about the horrific death of 7-year-old Somer Thompson.  She was walking home from school Monday afteroon when she vanished.  She was with her twin brother and her older sister.  Today, her body was found in a landfill.

Everyone here is talking about it because it happened HERE.  It happened 20 minutes away from where I live.

What do I do with this information?

Do I become an overprotective parent?  I mean, I already AM an overprotective parent.  I’m a helicopter. I hover.  I am constantly holding my kids’ hands and they know there is a “time out” in their future if they run away from me for a second when we are out in public.

I guess I never really thought about someone taking them away from me.  Until now.

After Somer’s disappearance, my husband and I started researching GPS tracking devices for children.  There are a bunch on the market.  Most are expensive, but all of them do the job.  They let you monitor your kid’s EVERY MOVE.  Everywhere they go.  Has it come to this?

A woman called into my husband’s radio show this morning with an awesome point.  She said that you can’t sit and think about someone snatching your kid or something bad happening  to them ALL THE TIME.  That would drive us all crazy and create an awful environment of fear for our children.

While the local news was updating us about Somer’s body possibly being found in a landfill, I was on two scheduled preschool tours for Bean.  It was just weird timing.  I’m about to send my little boy out into the world without me.  I really like the school that has locked and coded entrances.

Then, last night I watched Oprah on TIVO and the show was about the happiest people on earth and where they live.  Oprah interviewed families in Copenhagen, Denmark.  One Copenhagen couple felt so happy and safe, they actually left their babies to nap unattended in their backyard. They said crimes, and especially sexual crimes and kidnapping, were basically nonexistent.   Should I move to Copenhagen?

No. I love my country and I would never want to live anywhere else.  But today, I did look over my shoulder a little more when I was out with my kids.  I did give them lots of extra kissies. I maybe hugged them a little longer.

And I also said prayers for our new angel Somer and for her Mama who’s arms will always ache for the daughter she has just lost.

Adam Lambert – “Time For Miracles”

Here is American Idol runner up Adam Lambert’s very first music video!  Awesome.

The music video is for his very first radio single, “Time For Miracles.”  The song also appears in the Columbia Pictures’ action film 2012

My Husband Met Bethenny Frankel From “Real Housewives” and All I Got Was This Autographed Photo

bethenny-frankel-autograph-500

My husband is a morning radio host so he gets to do lots of cool things. Like broadcast from car dealership grand openings and giveaway concert tickets.  Well, this weekend he hosted a meet-and-greet at the Southern Women’s Show…with Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York City!

My husband has never seen ONE episode of this Bravo TV reality hit.  I’ve watched EVERY episode!  I can tell you Alex lived in a complete mess while her brownstone in Brooklyn was being renovated and her husband wears Speedos. I can tell you LuAnn makes limo drivers call her “Countess.”  I can tell you Ramona sells religious jewelry and always puts her foot in her mouth.  I can tell you Kelly is CRAZY.  I can tell you Jill has the most outlandish NYC apartment I have ever seen and it’s filled with over-the-top fabric from the store she owns with her husband.  AND I can tell you Bethenny is the COOLEST and most REAL of all the housewives.

But I didn’t meet her.  My husband did.

Where's Pop Mommy Pam??

Where's Pop Mommy Pam??

Yes, I was at home hanging with my kiddies while my husband was talking to Bethenny Frankel and learning all about her recent engagement (and that six caret ring!), her book and her Skinnygirl Margaritas.

But he DID bring me the photo.

And look!  It says that she wishes she could meet me!  Maybe next time Bethenny.

For now I’ll just have to tune into the next season of The Real Houswives of New York City and your brand new reality show Skinny & The City.  Can’t wait!

20 months

Annabel is 20 months old today.  We’ve been calling her “Tummy Girl” because of this book we checked out of the library.  It really describes her perfectly.  She is a tummy full of smiles and laughter.  She is a social butterfly who loves to run up to another child playing in the park.  She is going to force me to break out of my introverted shell and and I love that about her.  She overflows with curiosity and excitement for life.  She gets frustrated, but it doesn’t last long.  She’ll feel better once she is picked up, hugged, and cuddled.  I can’t wait until she can really talk and express her feelings.  Right now she loves to say “No!”  (Even when she means “Yes!”) It’s the cutest, sweetest, high-pitched “No.”  Even her “No’s” are happy.   We love you “Tummy Girl.”

John Mayer

Okay.  I don’t LOVE that he talks about getting stoned.

But this is a cool song, an awesome video, and a VERY pretty boy.

Mike Tyson on The Oprah Show

Mike Tyson lost his 4 year old daughter Exodus last year after she accidentally strangled herself on a treadmill cord at her mother’s house.  He was devastated and broke down about it on Oprah yesterday.  I thought he was amazingly open and real about the whole thing.  It has been a struggle for him.  It is truly heartbreaking and the thought of losing a child is, of course, unimaginable.

Here is the clip from Oprah.
