My husband works in radio so he gets some really cool promotional items sent to his office. We had a lot of fun with this Glee cardboard locker last year. Last week he brought home this: It’s a cardboard suitcase from the new Fox TV show Lone Star. I don’t know why the promotional item is a suitcase. I didn’t get a chance to watch Lone Star yet. And now I won’t be able to watch it….because it’s been CANCELED. After only TWO EPISODES! My TIVO has been on fire lately with all the new Fall TV shows I have recorded. I was going to record Lone Star because of all the positive early reviews. But then I forgot. And now it’s too late. I guess a part of me is glad because I just don’t think I can fit one more new TV show to my “must watch” list. (BTW, check out THIS list of the top 25 TV shows that ended too soon – according to Entertainment Weekly.) Bean is now using the Lone Star cardboard suitcase as a bed for his trusty pal Blue Dog. RIP Lone Star. I wonder what’s next?? Quick Poll: What do you predict is the next show to get canceled? Leave a comment below.
GLEE: “Britney/Brittany”
Last night’s Glee broke ratings records. It was the highest rated Glee show so far. Maybe it was because of all the early hype, but the Glee “Britney/Brittany” episode last night was, for me, a little disappointing. I was excited to see how the writers were going to incorporate the Britney Spears hits into a Glee storyline. But I didn’t like that the Britney song performances were part of dental anesthesia dreams. There was no real…uh, plot. I like when Glee just incorporates the music right into the plot line. It seemed a little strange that the kids were just dying to perform Britney songs at their pep ralley considering their ages. (They would have been in elementary school for some of Britney’s early hits.) I also could not stop thinking about the amazing “Madonna” episode last season and this one just did not measure up. Also, where was Quinn (Dianna Agron) last night? But there were some things I did like: Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) singing “(Hit Me) Baby One More Time.” Artie (Kevin McHale) singing “Stronger.” And all of Brittany’s (Heather Morris) one-liners and dance numbers. That girl can move and she looked great. Heather Morris has some major dancing experience too. Check her out in the video below when she danced right beside BEYONCE (!) at the American Music Awards in 2008! She definitely stands out as one of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies!” You go, girl!
Brad Goreski leaves Rachel Zoe Show
Oh no! This is BANANAS! Brad was the main reason I watched The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo TV! Don’t get me wrong. I like Rachel Zoe. She’s the celebrity stylist who always tries to convince us her clients will be going to the Oscars nude if the perfect designer dress does not arrive in time. She’s funny. And I like her vintage style. And she can sure rock a big pair of sunglasses. But Brad was just so cute. Oh, well. I’m sure he’ll get his own show too.
Madonna and Lourdes: Material Girl Clothing Line
Madonna and her teenage daughter Lourdes have officially launched their new “Material Girl” collection for Macy’s. I love this photo of Mom and Daughter. Madonna always looks amazing and Lourdes is rocking her own cool style. There are some super cute items in the Material Girl clothing line for teens. Everything has some ’80s influence, which I love. You can buy something fun from the Macy’s website. I know I’m not a teen, but I really want the Boyfriend Blazer.
Glee Britney Spears Episode: Sneak Peek
Tomorrow’s Glee is going to be Toxic! It’s a full on Britney Spears episode and it finally features ditsy cheerleader Brittany front and center. (The episode is called “Britney/Brittany.”) We also get introduced to John Stamos’ character. He plays a dentist. (A really CUTE dentist.) Here’s a sneak peek clip of besties Brittany (playing Britney) and Santana (playing Madonna) in a music video for “Me Against The Music.” It’s really cool to see Brittany dance and sing some solo numbers. And she really looks just like Britney Spears! It’s wild. Check out the video below and the photo above of Glee’s Brittany as “Slave for You” giant snake wearing Britney. Don’t miss the entire Glee “Britney/Brittany” episode tomorrow at 8 PM EST on Fox.
Katy Perry (Not) On “Sesame Street”
Katy Perry’s kid friendly and peppy version of “Hot N Cold,” in which she sings about wanting to play dress up with Elmo, has been yanked from the brand new season of Sesame Street. A video of the taped segment was leaked to YouTube this Monday and has over 1 Million views already. But the problem is that some parents started complaining about the way Katy is dressed. Too much cleavage. Not appropriate for a children’s program. Hey, I’m pretty conservative, especially when it comes to things presented or marketed to my children, but even I don’t get the problem here. Sure, the dress shows a little booby, but nothing that a child would even pay attention to – unless you pointed it out. And even then, I doubt they would care. I played the video for my two kiddies and I even directly asked them about “Miss Katy’s” dress. Nothing. They just wanted to watch it again. And play tag. And after watching it two times, they left to play dress up in our play room. Daniel was Elmo and Annabel was Miss Katy. It’s a bummer we won’t actually see this clip on Sesame Street this season. (We’ll see how long it manages to stay up on YouTube.) Katy even tweeted “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short!…” It was scheduled to air on Sesame Street on New Year’s Eve. Here’s a clip of my kiddies watching the video and then the entire segment that was SUPPOSED to air on Sesame Street. What do you think?
American Idol Judges: Jennifer Lopez & Steven Tyler
The summer rumors were true. Jennifer Lopez & Steven Tyler will be joining Randy Jackson as the American Idol judges for Season 10. I just love how Ryan Seacrest is in the photo too. The question now is who will be the “mean judge?” J-Lo seems like she could be very feisty, but I’m betting on Steven Tyler. I think he has seen it all and won’t hold back his opinion. He will be a good “Simon.” Jennifer probably does not want to upset her loyal fan base so she might be taking the Paula Abdul “motherly” route. I was never a fan of the four judge panel so I’m excited they stopped at three judges. I think this will be an interesting combo so I applaud the producers. They definitely need to breathe new life into the franchise and I sincerely hope they can do it. American Idol Season TEN premieres January 2011.
31 months
I feel like I have not written about Annabel lately and it’s probably because the last month has been filled with some major Daniel milestones: Turning 4. First big boy birthday party. First day of preschool. Annabel has been the trusty companion through it all. She adores her brother and loves to celebrate everything with him. During all of his different birthday celebrations, she was thrilled to join in on the fun and help open the gifts and eat the cake. “Annabel’s birthday next!” she always says. (I don’t have the heart to tell her it’s still 5 months away.) She is such a talker now. She has a serious sense of humor and I laugh out loud all the time at the funny things she says. She has a great energy and self confidence. When I put on her dress or a sparkly shirt (almost always pink, of course) she will exclaim, “Oh, Annabel looks SOOO beautiful!” She loves to compliment others too and always talks about the pretty buttons on my shirt or how handsome Daniel looks when he gets dressed for school. She is so loving and she will run and tackle her Daddy when he comes home from work and she always gives me tons of hugs and kisses throughout the day. She loves to snuggle with her brother. She loves to play with Daniel, but when he’s at school during the day, everything takes on a different dynamic. I find her playing with the trains and cars which she usually ignores and that’s probably because her brother would always be in charge. She loves to cook me things in the play kitchen and bring me pretend cups of coffee. She still loves to draw but she is super passionate about her stickers. We play with all her “girly” things: everything Hello Kitty and My Little Pony. She has a jewelry box filled with costume jewelry and a basket of tutus so she loves to play dress up and dance around the playroom. (Number one request: “Single Ladies.”) She is still defined by her curly hair. It’s the physical trait that everyone notices first and I constantly hear, “Look at that curly hair! Isn’t she just the cutest thing in the entire world??” I always say “Thank you” and, “Yes, it suits her personality.” She is bouncy and cute and she remains headstrong but she is NOTHING like that crazy little girl I described about 10 months ago. Her communication is better and she knows that I “get” her. I understand her and I think she finds a comfort in that. She still has her “time out” moments because she wants what she wants when she wants it. She also wants everything in its place and will not go to bed if one of the items on her shelf is missing or if she sees something in her room that should not be there. (She gets this from me.) Everyday is an adventure and it’s such a joy to have some alone time with her every weekday morning now. We have our shopping trips and library days and play dates and cuddle time. I’m a lucky Mama to have such an awesome little BFF.
The Social Network: Official Movie Trailer
I’m excited to see this new movie The Social Network. Otherwise known as “the movie about Facebook.” Justin Timberlake is in it. (Just sayin’.) It’s cool to see a film pop up that will basically define a generation. We are all on Facebook. And if you’re not on Facebook it’s because you are making a statement about not being on Facebook. It hits theatres October 1st.
